Brief:
This infographic was created for the 10th anniversary of the Fukushima Tsunami and Nuclear Disaster that occurred in Japan. It is intended to be displayed as a four-page gatefold in a National Geographic magazine and would have an accompanying article with a more in-depth story of the tragedy. This infographic provides a visual representation for viewers to have the opportunity to see this tragedy through different comparisons. It also gives tribute to the over 18,000 deaths and missing persons that are still missed today.
Process:
Since this tragedy, there has been quite a significant amount of information in regards to the events that took place. I decided to draw focus on the nuclear plant disaster that occurred in Fukushima as a direct correlation to the earthquake. In addition, I decided to add a physical comparison of the waves to provide the audience with a visual of just how massive the wave was when they hit Japan’s surface. Aside from the massive loss of people that the country experienced, there severe economic/financial losses that they are still trying to recover from to this day.
